Applies to: MMS-5e, MMS-3e
MMS-3e and MMS-5e devices running firmware 6.6.20230705.0/7.2.20230705.0 will, by default, reduce power consumption and hardware strain by powering down non-essential sound hardware after periods of inactivity. This is enabled by default but can be disabled by opening a telnet session to port 23 and sending:
OverrideAudioHardwarePowersaveMode True
Subsequently, the functionality can be re-enabled by sending:
OverrideAudioHardwarePowersaveMode False
The MMS runtime environment must meet the following conditions for automatic reboots to occur:
The functionality must be enabled per aforementioned command
There must not have been any activity on the system configuration page within the past 60 seconds
There must have been no new control connections within the past 15 minutes
There must have been no browse activities from any existing control connection within the past 15 minutes
There must not be any pending schedules within the next 10 minutes
There must not be any active playback on any output management by the sound hardware in question.
MMS-3e: Player A and Player B
MMS-5e: Player A through Player D
Additionally, it can be elected that an MMS will disable its sound hardware entirely. This is useful in systems that depend entirely on eAudioCast for audio transmission where the sound hardware is not used. This option is only available to systems with configured Autonomic Amplifiers. To toggle this behavior:
Visit the System tab of the configuration page for the MMS in question, found at http://ipOfMMS/Config/System.html
Click the blue pencil for the specific MMS to edit its settings
Toggle the Physical Outputs setting from AUTO to OFF
