Hardware/Software Requirements

  1. Configured and Online NAS drive

  2. The NAS network path and login credentials

For the most stable connection, limit the shared folder to SMBv1 on the NAS drive

Instructions

On the Content tab of the MMS' configuration page, scroll down to the Network Storage section

Select Add Network Drive and enter the network path of the folder.

If the network share has been discovered, navigate through the menu and select the folder containing the music.

If the network share has not been discovered, manually enter the hostname or IP Address of the NAS followed by the path to the folder. Each commercially available NAS drive is different, however they will generally show you a shared folder’s full network path in the folder properties or mapped drive information. In Windows, right click on the shared folder. Select Properties and Sharing to find the network path. This will generally look something like the below example.

\\192.168.1.100\path\to\music

After you have entered the network path, add credentials if any and click the green Add button.

The network path for each network drive added to the MMS will show up in the Network Storage box below the Add Network Drive button. You can click the edit button (pencil icon) to change the credentials if needed, and the delete button (trash can icon) to sever the connection between the shared folder and the MMS.

The server will need to index every track before any content will populate under local content. This can take several hours depending on the number of tracks in the library.
