eSeries MMS Automatic Reboots

Applies to: MMS-5e, MMS-3e, MMS-1e

eSeries MMS devices running firmware 6.6.20230705.0/7.2.20230705.0 can be configured to automatically reboot after periods of inactivity. This is currently disabled by default but can be enabled by opening a telnet session to port 23 and sending:

EnableAutomaticReboot True

Subsequently, the functionality can be disabled by sending:

EnableAutomaticReboot False

The MMS runtime environment must meet the following conditions for automatic reboots to occur:

  • The functionality must be enabled per aforementioned command

  • System uptime must exceed 3 days

  • There must not have been any activity on any configuration page within the past 15 minutes

  • There must not be an active firmware update in progress

  • There must have been no new control connections within the past 15 minutes

  • There must have been no browse activities from any existing control connection within the past 15 minutes

  • There must not be any pending schedules within the next 10 minutes

  • There must not be any active playback on any output

AMB Behavior

Once configured as enabled, MMS will additionally instruct any AMB in its System ID or any AMB in Global Mode to reboot, given all other conditions have been met. AMBs will only reboot if they are not actively playing anything.
