Disabling The Modification of Streaming Accounts from Control Client

Problem Description

An MMS is installed in an environment (e.g. a retail/commercial space) where adding or removing streaming accounts from control clients must be disabled.  Editing of streaming accounts is possible through the Web Configuration.

Resolution 

In firmware 5.2.19572.39 and higher, it's possible to disable the ability to sign into and/or delete streaming service accounts. This firmware carries a new configuration command called DisableSignInOnClients.

To use this functionality:

  1. Connect to the server's configuration port (23) via telnet.

  2. To disable signing in or deleting, send DisableSignInOnClients True

  3. To re-enable signing in or deleting, send DisableSignInOnClients False (this is the default setting)

This setting will persist through a reboot and does not require a server reset after setting the value.
